Electrical Field Service

Electrical Field Service Condition Monitoring

is a process that uses a variety of technologies to monitor the condition of electrical equipment. This information can be used to identify potential problems before they cause a failure, which can save time and money.

Afriphase Electrical has a team of experienced engineers and technicians who are experts in EFSM. We can help you to identify potential problems with your electrical equipment before they cause a failure. This can save you time and money, and it can help to improve the reliability of your equipment.

Risk levels are aligned to international standards and displayed on an interactive Asset Health Portal where the levels can be trended from assessment to assessment.

Interpretation of Condition (risk) levels

Levels Description
Level 0 Asset Not assessed
Level 1 No discharges (PD) were detected
Level 2 Low discharges (PD) were detected
Level 3 Moderate discharges (PD) detected, follow up assessment required
Level 4 High discharges (PD) were detected, advanced diagnostics required
Level 5 Highest probability of imminent failure, isolate and shut down if possible

Power Generation Plant Design

Providing the appropriate service based on the criticality of the asset

Technology Cost Purpose What will be assessed
Handheld Scanning Low cost
Limited Diagnostic
Is to advise the operator of electrical activity either for safety reasons or an early warning to maintenance personnel that unwanted electrical discharges. Surface (tracking) and corona discharges in switchgear, terminations, transformers, reactors, overheard line insulator and connection links.
On-Line Advance Assessment Low cost
Good Diagnostic
Identify what type of electrical discharge Locate source of electrical discharges The intensity of the electrical discharge And quantify the severity of the risk of failure. Internal (insulation), surface (tracking) and corona discharges in switchgear, terminations, transformers, reactors, motors, generators, overheard line insulator and connection links
On-Line Advance Diagnostic

Off-Line Advance Diagnostic
Moderate cost

Excellent Diagnostic
Identify what type of electrical discharge Locate source of electrical discharges The intensity of the electrical discharge Quantify the severity of the risk of failure Conduct PD mapping in feeder cables Internal (insulation, surface (tracking) and corona discharges in switchgear, terminations, feeder cables, transformers, reactors, motors, generators, overheard line insulator and connection links.

Here are some of the benefits of EFSM:

Increased reliability

By identifying and fixing problems before they cause a failure, EFSM can help to improve the reliability of your equipment.

Increased compliance:

EFSM can help you to comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

Increased safety:

By identifying and fixing problems before they cause a failure, EFSM can help to improve the safety of your equipment.

Reduced downtime:

When problems are identified early, they can often be fixed without causing a major outage. This can save you time and money.
